ProBuilder’s principal and founder, Jim McIntyre, has been building in the Hamilton, Ascot, Clayfield & surrounding area for over 34 years. Jim carries on a family building legacy from his father, Norm McIntyre, who began building in the Wynnum Manly area in 1947 and Jim continues to provide building services to his father’s clients and their families.
At ProBuilder, Jim is very selective about taking on new projects as this ensures that all clients receive complete focus and dedication. The ProBuilder team also choose to work with people who value outstanding levels of quality workmanship, personalised attention, and exceptional levels of communication.
We are very lucky to have long and faithful relationships with our sub-trades and suppliers. Our cabinetmaker has completed over 21,500 kitchens, our pool builder 1760 pools & our waterproofer 4200 bathrooms and 20,000+ wet areas.
ProBuilder specialises in building repair works, domestic renovations and extensions.

JIM McINTYRE
Hello I’m Jim McIntyre. The principle & founder of ProBuilder, established 1990. Please allow me to introduce the amazing team who help make ProBuilder such a success and of course a little more about me.
I have been involved in the building industry since 1984. My father Norm McIntyre was a long standing Brisbane builder and it was only natural that I follow in his footsteps and completed my carpentry & joinery apprenticeship with him.
Norm ran a small building business where customer service and a loyal long standing client base were the hallmarks of his success. Repeat work and client referrals ensured he was always busy.
Today my business ProBuilder, follows in his footsteps. I’m very proud to continue representing his ethics, customer focus and providing hassle free quality building projects.
ROSE McGUIRE
You’ll know you are being looked after when you meet ProBuilders client services manager Rose. From your initial enquiry right through to checking in on you 12 months after your project has been completed you’ll be dealing with Rose. She will look after you through the contract process then becomes involved in any assistance she can provide as your project progresses. Assisting with selections and introductions to our key suppliers and professionals from architects through to interior designers, showcasing selections to you at home and searching for that one off item, her dedication to providing an outstanding customer experience shines through.
Most days Rose will pop in on your site to make sure everything is running smoothly and view the works from a client’s perspective – that the sites are clean, tidy and safe at the end of each working week. Coming from a career in education as a distance education teacher and mother of 3 children she is super organised and a very valuable ProBuilder member.
STEFFEN COLE
Steffen is a highly skilled builder and a key part of ProBuilder’s success. Originally from New Zealand, he completed his apprenticeship in commercial construction in Auckland before heading to Samoa to help rebuild after Cyclone Ofa.
His career has taken him across major renovations in NZ, high-end residential projects in the US, and now Australia, where he has been based since 2011.
Steffen’s craftsmanship extends beyond building homes — he also creates bespoke features such as large entry doors, custom dining tables, and pools, always with a meticulous eye for detail. He works closely with clients to deliver high-quality, considered results.
A proud Kiwi, a true craftsman, and an invaluable member of the ProBuilder team.
LIAM KAY
Liam is a full-time carpenter with over 13 years of experience and plays a key role in our crew. He’s currently running multiple sites independently—bringing skill, organisation, and a strong work ethic to everything he takes on. On top of that, he’s completing his builder’s license, with plans to one day run his own projects from the ground up.
Outside of work, Liam’s just as dedicated. He and his partner Jacinta are raising their young family, including their son and new baby daughter. Life is full, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I’m a proud bayside local—born and bred. After graduating from Iona College in 2011, I knew I wanted to be a builder. I’ve always loved working with my hands and creating something real, and carpentry has given me that and more. Now I’m ready to take the next step and pursue my builder’s license. When I’m not building, I’m with the family doing school runs and club sports, trying my luck smoking meat, or heading out camping.”
Liam’s experience, reliability and passion make him a cornerstone of what we do at ProBuilder.
JAMIE MCINTYRE
Meet Jamie McIntyre, a second-year apprentice and
proud third-generation builder at ProBuilder.
Jamie McIntyre is currently in his second year of apprenticeship and is already proving himself as a dedicated and capable young tradesman. With a strong foundation built through a school-based apprenticeship and a genuine passion for the industry, he’s well on his way to a successful career in construction.
As the third generation of the McIntyre family to work in the building trade, Jamie’s connection to carpentry runs deep. He began his apprenticeship in Year 11 while still at school and continues to balance Year 12 studies with hands-on experience on site. He’s on track to complete his qualification by the age of 21.
“I’ve always wanted to be in the building industry,” Jamie says. “My dad has been a big influence. We’ve built a lot together over the years, and it’s always exciting to take raw materials and turn them into something useful. I also really enjoy the variety of carpentry and learning something new on every job.”
Jamie’s appreciation for teamwork and his eagerness to grow make him a great fit within the ProBuilder crew. He’s proud to be part of the company’s future while continuing his family’s legacy in the trade.
With the right attitude, solid support, and a love for the craft, Jamie is laying strong foundations—both for his own future and for the projects he helps bring to life.
JEDD THOMPSON
Jedd Thompson has been in the building industry for 4 years and joined ProBuilder in 2024. Now in his final year of apprenticeship, Jedd demonstrates a strong dedication and passion for his craft, with attention to detail and a work ethic that sets him apart.
Outside of work, Jedd enjoys spending time with mates, dirt biking, camping, and going on 4WD adventures. What he finds most rewarding about his role is seeing projects come to life, from start to finish, and witnessing the transformation along the way.
With the goal of obtaining his builder’s license after completing his apprenticeship, Jedd is eager to continue his career and embrace new opportunities within the industry. His senior carpenters and #Hutchies trainers agree that Jedd is well on his way to becoming one of the best in the field.
Jedd consistently goes above and beyond in every project, embodying the hands-on, dedicated approach that is a hallmark of the ProBuilder team. We’re excited to have Jedd as part of our growing family.
FINN MCGUIRE
Project Manager and cadet at ProBuilder.
Finn joined the ProBuilder team in 2025 and brings with him a strong interest in construction, project coordination, and the built environment. As our Project Manager, Finn plays a key role in keeping our sites organised, efficient, and running smoothly.
Currently studying a Bachelor of Built Environment (Construction Management) (Honours) at Queensland University of Technology, Finn is combining his academic knowledge with real-world, on-site experience. His structured, hands-on approach and passion for the industry make him a valuable asset to the ProBuilder team.
Finn’s interest in project management began back in Year 11, when he completed a Diploma of Project Management while still in school. That experience sparked a genuine enthusiasm for the planning and coordination side of construction, ultimately leading him to pursue formal study at university and take up a cadet role with ProBuilder.
With his drive to learn, sharp organisational skills, and a calm, methodical approach to problem-solving, Finn is already making a positive impact across our projects—and we’re excited to support him as he grows in the industry.
