Dental Clinic Project: Prioritising Safety”

Embarking on a recent project at a specialist dental clinic, the ProBuilder team delved into the intricacies of setting up a cutting-edge X-ray room equipped with an OPG X-ray scanner. This venture posed unique challenges, as treatment rooms flanked either side, and a neighboring property added an extra layer of complexity. The primary concern? Containing electromagnetic radiation with utmost precision.

Collaborating closely with the client’s designer, our team navigated the labyrinth of technical details, ensuring every element contributed to the overall safety and functionality of the X-ray room. Enter the world of lead-lined plywood wall sheeting, a meticulous choice made in consultation with specialist suppliers. Even the viewing window, boasting a lead component nearly an inch thick, was selected to meet the highest containment standards.

No stone was left unturned; even the sliding door and its surrounding trim were meticulously lead-lined to guarantee 100% containment. Special attention was given to seemingly mundane features like power points and light switches, each equipped with bespoke shields to enhance the room’s safety measures.

Upon completion, the project underwent a rigorous certification process. A state-of-the-art measuring device, though expensive, was employed to confirm the absence of any radiation leakage. This stringent evaluation ensures that the X-ray room not only meets but exceeds industry standards, underscoring our commitment to precision and safety.

At ProBuilder, we pride ourselves on tackling challenges head-on, even when they fall under the building industry’s notorious “big 3 D’s”: The Dirty, The Dangerous, and The Difficult.
