FROM DARK AND UNINVITING… TO A BACKYARD RESORT

Sometimes a property has everything going for it—it just needs someone to see its potential.

Our clients already had a beautiful low-set home with a wonderful outlook. Unfortunately, you would hardly know it from their existing outdoor entertainment area.

A large hedge of lilly pilly trees blocked the outlook and much of the natural light. The existing entertainment area had low ceilings, was dark and uninspiring, had very little through-breeze and simply wasn’t somewhere the family wanted to spend time.

Our clients initially engaged a landscape design company to explore adding a pool and improving their outdoor living area.

When ProBuilder became involved, we took those initial concepts as a starting point and, working with our design team, began looking at the property as a whole.

How could we bring in more light?
How could we capture the outlook?
How could we encourage natural airflow?
And most importantly, how could we create an outdoor area our clients would actually want to live in?

What followed was more than 12 months of planning and preparation before a sod of soil was turned.

That’s something we’re passionate about at ProBuilder.

The success of a major renovation isn’t determined only by what happens once the builders arrive. Some of the most important work happens months beforehand—developing the design, considering the details, challenging ideas and making sure all the pieces come together before construction starts.

And the before-and-after photos tell the story.

What was once a dark, enclosed and rarely used area has been completely transformed into a light-filled outdoor living and entertaining space, incorporating the pool, capturing the outlook and allowing the home to breathe.

It doesn’t feel like an addition that’s been attached to the back of the house.
