14 Aug Uncovering Hidden Leaks in Heavy Rain
It’s been a long time since we’ve experienced the kind of heavy rainfall we’re seeing now. According to ABC News, the Bureau of Meteorology has warned of heavy rainfall and storms for southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales. Up to 100 millimeters of rain could fall in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, with parts of the Gold Coast expected to receive up to 80 millimeters. This severe weather has already impacted events, such as the Ekka show, with crowd numbers down and the main arena waterlogged.
Given these challenging conditions, detecting and addressing leaks in your home is more critical than ever. At ProBuilder, we understand the complexities involved in identifying hidden leaks, especially during such intense weather events. Our approach combines advanced technology with thorough investigative techniques to ensure we effectively address and repair your water issues.
At ProBuilder, we use advanced water testing to diagnose persistent leaks, simulating wind-driven rain with a hose. Before we start, we set a baseline using thermal imaging and moisture meters, taking readings both before and after the test.
During the water testing process, we visually inspect the leak area, followed by additional thermal imaging and moisture meter checks. While this method isn’t perfect, it’s essential in helping us pinpoint the source of water issues, which can often be tricky to identify. In some cases, further investigation might be needed, but with our experience and cutting-edge technology, we’re committed to solving even the most challenging problems.
We’ve successfully diagnosed difficult leaks in the past. For example, while on the QBCC panel of rectifying builders, we handled a project where the source of the leak was elusive. After thorough investigation, we discovered the issue was 13 meters away from the damage—water had traveled along a metal batten and exited through a hole into the roof cavity. In another case, we identified a pinhole leak in a pipe that only appeared after midnight when the water pressure was highest.
ProBuilder is renowned for its expertise in both diagnosing and repairing complex water issues.
